Job Summary
Perform evaluations of major rotating hardware for manufacturing special processes, including sample preparation, evaluation, disposition, and quality documentation. Interpret blueprints and specifications to assess testing requirements and conformance, while conducting metallographic evaluations of heat treating and plasma spray coatings. Investigate parts and process-related problems to develop root cause analyses and corrective actions through regular interaction with Production Operations and Engineering. Maintain records, develop evaluation sheets, and provide accurate lab reports while adhering to EH&S and operating requirements. Monitor testing frequency and retain prepared samples according to procedure.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Minimum 4 or more years of relevant experience
- Associate's degree (or other 2-year post high school training)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (if holding Associate's degree)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools and test equipment
- Onsite work location
- 2nd shift availability
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in the area of metallurgical testing, evaluation, and documentation
- Quality and/or manufacturing, material background
- Familiarity with microscope evaluation techniques including brightfield, darkfield, and polarized light microscopy
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing operations
- Knowledge and experience with root cause investigations, corrective actions and problem solving
