Job Summary
Identify needs for referral to other service providers and facilitate linkage to those services, including advocacy activities. Conduct individual counseling using cognitive-behavioral, 12-step facilitation, motivational enhancement, and supportive treatments. Partner education about medication-assisted treatment and problem-solving in couples. Support group facilitation. Assessments, integrated summaries, clinical formulations, and treatment planning. This role supports patients with opioid and narcotic addictions through methadone, suboxone, and vivitrol. Requires a Master's degree in counseling or related field and one year of counseling experience. 8-hour shift.
Required Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Counseling or Related Field
- Basic communication skills, i.e., active listening, I statements, basic conflict negotiation
- Case management skills
- Assessments and integrated summaries, also known as clinical formulations
- Recognizing possible abuse/neglect of Individuals
- Treatment planning, including recognizing need for referral
- Referrals, including knowing how to advocate for the client, facilitate linkage, coordinate and network
- Individual counseling
- Cognitive-behavioral treatment
- 12 step facilitation treatment
- Motivational enhancement treatment
- Supportive treatment
- Problem-solving/critical thinking
- Partner education about Medication Assisted Treatment
- Problem-solving in couples
- Support group facilitation knowledge
- Knowledge of addictions
- Knowledge of methadone and Suboxone, side effects, benefits, interactions
- Knowledge of most common diagnostic groups or problem areas seen in substance dependent adults
- Cultural diversity competency
