Job Summary
Research, analyze, and correct product problems for Caterpillar and allied product lines by inspecting failed parts, consulting with Technical Resources, and creating troubleshooting aids. Resolve technical and repetitive issues while developing and maintaining positive relationships with technical personnel. Provide failure analysis and technical information support to the service department, including counseling others on CAT parts reusability guidelines. Assist with designing in-the-field customer attachments and maintaining mast technical files. Participate in factory engineer field visits and provide feedback internally to drive change. Work safely at all times while adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards.
Required Qualifications
- At least six months of related experience in a similar role and environment
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English
- Keep safety as a priority in the work environment
- Ability to successfully complete a skills assessment
- Valid driver's license
- Excellent client service skills
- Own and maintain required personal tools
- At least seven years heavy equipment technician experience, preferably in a dealership environment
- Caterpillar work experience
- Proficient rebuilding/repairing machinery including hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, engines, Tier IV Emissions systems, failure analysis procedures, and warranty claims procedures
- Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Minimum 5 years serviceperson experience
- Degree or working knowledge in Mechanical engineering
- Must comprehend computer-based programs (SIS, SIMS etc.)
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English
- Must be a motivated self-starter
- Must have sufficient mechanical knowledge to understand scope of project
- Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills
- Ability to maintain consistent attendance
- May be required to operate a forklift with appropriate certification(s)
