Job Summary
Manage the team and operational functions of the tailor shop, including hiring, training, and leading a group of tailors. Oversee customer fitting and measurement for all alterations and made-to-measure garments while ensuring timely delivery through workflow management. Provide continuous ongoing training and feedback to shop staff, resolve customer issues, and partner with leadership to ensure compliance with alteration policies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge on draping, pattern cutting, sewing, and quality control, troubleshooting mechanical equipment as needed. Maintain accurate records of forms, files, and tailor productivity using company tools. This role requires a resident of the Charlotte, NC area.
Required Qualifications
- Resident of the Charlotte, NC area
- Experience hiring, managing, and executing the overall strategy of a tailor shop
- Technical knowledge and ability to lead and manage a tailor shop
- Understanding of equipment and processes of making garments
- Strong familiarity with necessary materials, manpower, and management to run a successful tailor shop
- Ability to build effective teams by sourcing ideal team members
- Ability to maintain an effective schedule for the Tailoring Team
- Ability to manage the workflow of alterations to ensure timely delivery
- Ability to ensure operational effectiveness of the alteration team by monitoring processes and supplies
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solutions and solve problems
- Ability to develop and maintain a world-class team by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation
- Ability to guide, direct, and motivate the Tailoring Team and other shop associates through coaching and feedback while setting standards and monitoring performance
- Ability to partner with the shop's leadership team to provide guidance and advice
- Ability to ensure accuracy and completion of all forms, files, and records for alterations
- Ability to document Tailor productivity using company tools
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the team, processes, and products
- Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
- Ability to assess the value, importance, or quality of products, services, and people
- Up-to-date knowledge on all aspects of tailoring and alterations
- Working knowledge of the mechanical equipment required and ability to troubleshoot issues
- Mastery of all aspects of tailoring operations including draping, pattern cutting, altering, spreading, cutting, inspecting, hand and machine sewing, measuring customer for size, fitting, quality control, and pattern making
- High-level fabric knowledge
