Job Summary
Lead Master Plumber responsible for skilled to unskilled plumbing repairs and installations, overseeing and training others, inspecting and maintaining backflow preventers and various systems (water mains, fire systems, acid waste lines, glass drains, sewage pumps), and coordinating work with other trades. Role includes planning and inspecting, completing work orders and reports, and ensuring adherence to safety and union guidelines. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid Ohio driver’s license, and 3-year apprenticeship or 8+ years of plumbing experience; proficient with plumbing tools, mathematical applications, and instruction-following; leadership capabilities preferred. Typical schedule Mon-Fri 6:00am-2:30pm with overtime opportunities; includes physical demands (lifting up to 80 pounds, climbing ladders/scaffolding) and comprehensive benefits under the union agreement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License
- 3-year University of Akron or other State Approved Sponsored Apprenticeship Program for Trade OR minimum of 8 years of plumbing trade experience
- Ability to operate standard powered and non-powered plumbing tools and equipment
- Ability to perform mathematics related to trade applications
- Ability to read, write, observe and follow oral/written instructions
- Ability to exercise judgment in new situations
- Leadership experience preferred (leading others)
