Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive one-on-one advising sessions for pre-medical and medical students applying to medical school and residency, focusing on application strategy, competitiveness, and professional development. Provide expert guidance on school selection, timelines, interview preparation, and admissions strategy, while collaborating with writing advisors to refine personal statements and residency materials. Deliver high-level mock interviews with detailed feedback and share firsthand insights from admissions and residency selection committees to strengthen candidates' understanding of evaluation criteria. Participate in webinars, content creation, blogs, and workshops to support thought leadership initiatives. Requires an MD degree, completed residency, and significant experience serving on admissions or selection committees. Available for 20+ hours per week in a remote role.
Required Qualifications
- MD degree from an accredited U.S. medical school
- Successful completion of an accredited U.S. residency training program
- Significant experience serving on a medical school admissions committee and/or residency selection committee
- Minimum of two years of advising, mentoring, teaching, admissions, or residency selection experience
- Deep understanding of the AMCAS application process
- Strong knowledge of the ERAS application and NRMP Match processes
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and inspire students from diverse backgrounds
- Highly available to students (20+ hours per week)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Zoom, Google Meet, Gmail, and other communication platforms
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in academic medicine, medical education, or faculty leadership
- Experience interviewing and selecting medical school or residency applicants
- Previous experience advising students through successful medical school admissions and/or residency matching
- Retired physicians and physicians practicing part-time
