Job Summary
Manage bag size, tow times, and deliveries to ensure high-quality product while actively enforcing company quality standards. Operate the vessel in a safe, productive manner applicable to regulatory agencies and the law, ensuring compliance with all legal reporting and data entry. Conduct daily safety walks, submit reports, run required drills, and instruct crew on safety procedures. Treat injuries in coordination with AMP, holding post-incident meetings with department heads. Oversee wheelhouse and deck inventory, approve ordering, and ensure maintenance on fishing gear. Communicate daily with the USS office and all department heads regarding production, quality, and safety. Work a rotating schedule of roughly 60 days on/60 days off from January to November. Maintain a valid USCG license for 1600 tons or greater with three years of bottom trawl experience.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Master or Mate
- USCG Licensed for 1600 tons or greater
- Minimum of three (3) years of bottom trawl fishing experience as a master or mate
- Competent in the use of modern marine navigational and fish-detecting equipment
- Skilled in rigging and repairing bottom trawls
- Adhere to the positions rotation schedule
- Maintain a valid USCG License
- Maintain First Aid/CPR certification
- Complete company required Cold Water Survival training
