MASTER MECHANIC (MACHINIST QUALIFICATION)

Job Summary
Master Mechanic position responsible for skilled mechanical maintenance and repair of power plant equipment, including boilers, turbines, coal handling and auxiliary systems, with emphasis on ensuring safe, efficient operation of Seminole generating units. Requires Machinist Certification and a background in mechanical maintenance, reading blueprints, welding/fabrication, diagnostic troubleshooting, and leadership of fellow craftsmen. Must possess strong safety knowledge, familiarity with SECI safety standards, and the ability to work from blueprints or sketches to set up machines, fabricate parts, perform alignments, and oversee maintenance projects across plant equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- six months to one year of additional related technical training
- five years in mechanical and boiler equipment maintenance; three years as a mechanic or equivalent in specialized training in mechanical discipline
- Machinist Certification (SECI Certified Machinist standards or equivalent)
- knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to coal-fired electrical generating facilities
- ability to read blueprints/drawings/schematics
- proficiency with mechanical tools and precision measuring tools
- proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- leadership ability to direct and lead craftsmen
- familiarity with welding and metal fabrication (oxy-acetylene welding, carbon arc cutting, flame cutting, brazing, heat treating, plasma-cutting, blacksmithing)
- ability to operate and maintain plants equipment (pumps, boilers, turbines, conveyors)
- physical ability to perform required tasks (climbing, lifting, working at heights, PPE)
- strong communication and teamwork skills
- time management and organizational skills
