Master Hoist Technician

Job Summary
Conduct advanced inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and modifications of construction hoists and industrial elevator systems, including troubleshooting 480V three-phase electrical systems, variable frequency drives, and programmable logic controllers. Lead complex repairs, provide technical direction to junior technicians, and assist with training on safety procedures and manufacturer standards. Perform final operational testing, review equipment issues for corrective actions, and respond to emergency breakdowns and after-hours service calls. Maintain company tools, complete accurate service documentation, and ensure all work adheres to OSHA and manufacturer specifications. Travel up to 50% across Texas and the Gulf Coast, working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience servicing, repairing, installing, and troubleshooting construction hoists, industrial elevators, or similar lifting equipment
- Advanced experience working with 480V three-phase electrical systems
- Strong working knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical symbols, and industrial control systems
- Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with electrical and electronic components down to the component level
- Experience troubleshooting programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, three-phase motors, AC/DC motors, brakes, relays, breakers, contactors, and motor control systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience diagnosing gearboxes, drive systems, brakes, couplings, bearings, and related mechanical components
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex repairs and provide technical guidance or training to less-experienced technicians
- Ability to review technical problems, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions in the field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency service calls as required
- Ability to work at elevated heights and climb hoist towers, ladders, and structures as needed
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull tools, parts, and equipment associated with hoist service work
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather and jobsite conditions
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Alimak, Pega, or similar construction hoist and industrial elevator systems strongly preferred
- Professional or manufacturer-specific certifications are preferred
