Master Electrician - Facility Condition Assessor

Job Summary

Conduct on-site facility condition assessments for Department of War clients, inspecting architectural, structural, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and building envelope components. Serve as the team expert on inventory and condition assessment of commercial scale electrical service, distribution, backup generators, lighting, and communications. Document physical and functional conditions, code conformance, and inspection criteria using photos and comments in SMS facility condition assessment software. Interpret building plans and drawings with CADD/GIS tools to prepare sustainment and maintenance reports for leadership and customers. Maintain safety precautions while executing tasks on schedule and on budget.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current Licensed Master Electrician
  • 10 Years of experience in new construction or facility maintenance in the electrical trade
  • Must be able to travel periodically
  • Most current work performance is in the Northern Virginia area
  • Individual must be fully ambulatory
  • Must be able to carry work gear and walk and/or stand for the length of the workday up to five consecutive days
  • Must be able to climb ladders and vertical ladderways
  • Must be able to work at heights and in close spaces
  • Must possess agility to safely move about machinery in tight spaces
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to a variety of environmental conditions (weather, noise, temperature - such as working in boiler rooms)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with USACE's Civil Engineering Research Lab (CERL) SMS condition assessment process and software, including conducting field assessments, data entry, and field application software use
  • Understand UNIFORMAT II building component data structure down to Level 4
  • Additional licenses or experience in other construction trades like general contractors, HVAC, mechanical systems, plumbing, and/or fire protection
  • Knowledge of Department of War (DoW) facilities and infrastructure
