Job Summary
Counselor will foster a fun and welcoming youth climbing program environment, introducing fundamentals of climbing, building a solid curriculum, and ensuring a highly engaged CRG youth community. Responsibilities include belaying kids, running activities and crafts, setting up/breaking down daily activities, communicating with attendees and parents about program details and youth progress, maintaining safety and behavior standards, and collaborating with the Youth Program Director. Requires certifications such as SafeSport and CPR/First Aid, and availability during all program weeks. The role emphasizes delivering engaging, age-appropriate coaching and feedback to help youth develop climbing skills and confidence.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working with youth in a camp or program, outdoor/adventure based or educational setting
- Strong behavior management skills with youth of all ages
- Strong in-person communication skills with children, parents/guardians, and staff
- Availability during all program operating weeks from morning until mid-afternoon
- Proficiency in top rope belaying or a willingness to learn
- Careful attention to detail, ability to analyze movement and provide insightful feedback
- Provide required certifications (including SafeSport, CPR/First Aid) and documentation
