Job Summary
The Forerunner works with the Head Route Setter to test and provide feedback on newly set routes and boulders, evaluating quality, flow, and safety of climbs and helping ensure a well-balanced, inclusive climbing experience. Responsibilities include forerunning assigned routes and boulders weekly, giving detailed feedback on difficulty, quality, and risk, communicating observations and suggestions to the Head Setter, adhering to safety protocols, and refraining from using power tools unless trained and approved.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of climbing experience
- Ability to climb assigned grades (generally V7–V12)
- Friendly, professional, and detail-oriented demeanor
- Comfortable at heights (14 ft boulders, 40+ ft ropes)
- Flexible schedule with some morning and afternoon availability
