Job Summary
Apprentice Route Setter assists the Head and Assistant Setters in all aspects of the route setting process. This position is designed as a hands-on learning opportunity to develop the foundational skills required for a professional setting role. Responsibilities include assisting with setting, stripping, cleaning, and organizing holds; following the explicit direction of the Head Setter; forerunning and setting routes up to 5.12 and boulders up to V6+; assisting with maintenance tasks (fixing spinners, inspecting auto belays, tagging routes, etc.); supporting competition setup and teardown; adhering to all safety procedures and using protective equipment appropriately; performing other duties as assigned. Requirements include flexible schedule with early morning and afternoon availability; 2+ years of climbing experience preferred; comfortable working at heights of 40+ feet and on ropes, ladders, and lifts; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn; self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
