Job Summary
Apprentice Route Setter assists the Head and Assistant Setters in all aspects of the route setting process. This 6-month apprenticeship is designed as a hands-on learning opportunity to develop foundational skills for a professional route-setting role. Responsibilities include setting, stripping, cleaning, and organizing holds; forerunning and setting routes up to 5.12 and boulders up to V6+; assisting with maintenance tasks (fixing spinners, inspecting auto belays, tagging routes); supporting competition setup and teardown; adhering to safety procedures and using protective equipment; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of climbing experience preferred
- Flexible schedule with early morning and afternoon availability
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working at heights of 40+ feet and on ropes, ladders, and lifts
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively
