Job Summary
Receives instructions and prints regarding work assignments, interprets sketches, and determines material and tool requirements for plant maintenance and construction. Directs or assists in razing structures, removing brick and debris from furnaces, and laying out work details including elevations and base lines. Performs rough and finish masonry work such as laying brick, concrete finishing, insulating furnaces, and cutting materials for curved or angular shapes. Operates masonry saws, positions prefabricated parts, and installs refractory gunnite or shotcrete materials. Exercises all safety precautions while handling materials and directing helpers in mixing bonding materials. Work full-time including rotating shifts with weekends and holidays; must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Completion of a certified training or apprenticeship program
- Ability to work full-time, including rotating shifts that shall include weekends and holidays
- Must pass all required testing
- Willingness to work at heights
- Willingness to work in extreme heat and cold
- Ability to climb and or walk on uneven surfaces
- Currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Prior steel industry experience
