Job Summary

Read blueprints to identify prep work and apply masking tape, paper, and plugs to protect surfaces during coating. Clean workpieces with solvents and brushes, then use precision tools like calipers and X-acto blades to measure and cut materials for accurate coverage. Verify part cleanliness, inspect for damage, and demask parts after processing to ensure quality. Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements in a manufacturing shop environment. This safety-sensitive role requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residence. Candidates must complete online training and a three-week shop floor orientation before starting the night shift.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship
  • U.S. permanent residence (Green Card holder)
  • status as a protected person
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Regular attendance on-site at the workplace
  • Precise dexterity and the ability to apply masking in small places and to make precise cuts using an X-acto or similar pointed blade
  • Hand strength and stability to effectively and accurately use precision cutting instruments
  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility
  • Sit for long periods to perform job duties
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds using peer assistance and/or other lifting & material-handling equipment for heavy or oversized parts
  • Frequently reaches overhead and reaches out or down to perform duties
  • Occasionally climbs steps, stairs, or ladders
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
  • Frequently uses hand or fingers to manually inspect parts, apply and remove masking materials, and operate precision cutting tools
  • Accurately distinguish colors
  • Visual acuity to interpret drawings, sketches, and readings on gauges and other measuring devices, and to ensure precise application of masking materials
  • Excessive noise (hearing protection required)
  • Moderate noise
  • Dust, smoke, mist, fumes/vapors
  • Extreme temperatures
  • Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, sharp blades, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment
  • All assigned online training courses prior to beginning work on the shop floor
  • 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. orientation
  • 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. remaining online training
  • three-week, day-shift training period under the guidance of the lead masker
  • successfully completing a drug screen
