Operate custom-built machines to heat glass rods in furnaces and form lens blanks. Periodically inspect lenses using a microscope and perform machine-assisted trimming of blanks from the rod edges. Requires excellent fine motor skills, a calm temperament, and preference for stable tasks. Work in rotating shifts (6:00–14:06 or 14:00–22:06).
