Marketing & Communications Intern - Austin

Job Summary
Marketing & Communications Intern in Austin, assisting in identifying and crafting wish stories for newsletters, website features, press releases, donor engagement, and other materials; developing and scheduling content for social channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and managing the editorial calendar; designing marketing collateral for events; capturing photo and video content at wish reveals and events; training to become a Wish Granter for interviews and host sends-offs; supporting Mission team as needed; internship is in Austin with remote flexibility and at least one in-office day per week; the role targets college students/recent graduates pursuing nonprofit marketing experience.
Required Qualifications
- Writing and editing skills required
- Proficiency in Canva and PowerPoint required
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Constant Contact, and/or video editing is a plus
- Must have reliable mode of transportation to travel across chapter territory as needed
- Ability to learn quickly, work independently, problem solve, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Must be detail oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be comfortable making phone calls on behalf of the organization
- Professionally represent the Make-A-Wish brand with internal and external stakeholders
- Displays professionalism and quality customer service and delivery skills
- Ability to deal with sensitive information with a high level of trust and confidentiality
- Experience or basic knowledge of most Microsoft computer programs, including Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Bilingual/Spanish First Language is a plus
- Experience with nonprofit databases (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) is a plus but not required
