Job Summary
Draft and distribute press releases, manage media contact lists, and provide monthly reports on media outreach and placements. Create and maintain brand guidelines, update marketing materials for print and digital use, and develop storytelling to promote all programs. Manage content archives, conduct annual inventory of print materials, and oversee the annual procurement process for agency printing. Execute social media strategy across Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, and Threads, including audience response management, data collection, and monthly metric reporting. Provide graphic design, website copy and SEO, writing for publications, photography, and videography as needed. Assist with project tracking on Monday and support Volunteer Houston with general and disaster-related tasks. Requires a Bachelor's degree, three years of communications experience, and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends over 40 hours weekly.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Three years minimum of experience communications, including writing, graphic design and social media
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and to work over 40 hours/week at times
- Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance as required by law
Desired Qualifications
- Education in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or a related field
- Proven experience in a combination of business, marketing communications, web design and/or writing roles in a business environment, preferably for nonprofits
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines
- Able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and adapt to change
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop partnerships, foster teamwork and collaborative working relationships
- Utilize your knowledge and experience using a broad range of creative digital tools
- Ability to monitor and measure the effectiveness of communications through digital analytics, and other key performance indicators
