Marketing and Communications Director

Job Summary
Develop and execute a strategic marketing plan aligning with the organization's mission, while managing activities within the annual budget. Create, edit, and optimize all marketing materials including direct mail, advertising, website content, and social media campaigns across LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Google+. Oversee vendors such as agencies, web developers, and printers to ensure timely delivery and brand consistency. Lead digital fundraising strategies, manage email lists and segmentation, and analyze metrics to adjust approaches. Act as the primary media liaison to write press releases, track coverage, and build relationships with media partners. Prepare event materials and maintain the website while collaborating with diverse departments. This full-time role reports to the Chief Advancement Officer with a 40-hour week, occasional evenings, and weekends. Located on campus at 1401 N. 18th St.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field
- Valid driver's license
- Must be a strong communicator, with excellent written, presentation, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage time, deliverables, and deadlines
- Must be a self-starter, facilitator and innovator of new marketing approaches, and public relations
- Creative and strategic thinker with good judgment and ability to make independent decisions in a changing environment
- Strong attention to detail, problem analysis and problem resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level
- Empathy and compassion for people of all backgrounds and a desire to end homelessness
- Comfortable and skilled in working with culturally diverse staff and community
- Considerate and respectful of all employees, volunteers, clients, donors and vendor partners
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry fifteen pounds
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of related experience in marketing and communications
- 3+ years of related experience in non-profit agency operations
- Knowledge of best practices for writing and publishing on various social platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram)
- Software skills: Microsoft Office; ConstantContact, or similar email distribution service; Donor Perfect, or similar CRM platform
