Job Summary
Market Physician Executive (MPE) leads in-home multi-specialty care within a designated market, driving clinical strategy, operational oversight, and population health initiatives. Responsibilities include executing proprietary clinical pathways, reviewing and approving plans of care for APPs, RNs, SWs, and PharmD, managing clinical and operational performance, reducing total cost of care and medical loss ratio, supervising frontline teams, coordinating with Market Manager on patient engagement, scheduling, and P&L, and delivering direct/indirect patient care while advancing population health management. The role requires an MD or DO with an unrestricted license in the market, board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., Nephrology, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, etc.), willingness to obtain hospital privileges, experience with NCQA/HEDIS/Medicaid/Medicare, and strong leadership and collaboration capabilities. The position is remote within the designated Mississippi market with occasional in-home visits and domestic travel, and operates on a hybrid remote-work model. The organization focuses on improving patient outcomes, health equity, provider satisfaction, and cost efficiency through evidence-based pathways and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Active, unrestricted state medical license in each state within the market; willingness to become licensed in multiple states
- Board certification (BC or BE) in an ACGME-approved specialty such as Nephrology, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Hepatology, or Geriatrics
- Willingness to obtain hospital privileges at required facilities
- Experience with NCQA, HEDIS, Medicaid, Medicare; quality improvement; medical utilization management; risk adjustment
- Experience with high-need Medicare Advantage and managed Medicaid populations
- Demonstrated experience applying evidence-based clinical criteria
- Strong management and communication skills
- Ability to oversee and coordinate clinical and business operations; supervise front-line clinical and operations team members
- Ability to engage with patients and collaborate with community physicians, facilities, and partners
