Job Summary
Manage department sales and profits by reviewing historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions. Lead department personnel through interviewing, hiring, training, and developing partners while assigning work and addressing complaints. Maintain product levels and quality control in market and seafood departments, ensuring fresh meats meet standards and regulatory food safety practices. Conduct on-the-job training, instructing in use of tools and equipment, and demonstrate procedures for partners. Promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives and maintain clean, safe, and sanitary working environments. Reviews profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data to provide summaries to upper management regarding related issues. Checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork. Requires advanced knowledge of market department operations, scheduling software systems, and in-store ordering machines. Minimum of 18 years of age required; partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- High school Diploma or GED
- Two or more years of related experience
- Equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education
- Food Handler certification
- Manager Food Safety certification
- Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment
- Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as a bailer
- Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as saws, meat grinder, knives, box cutters
- Ability to use non-precision and precision hand tools
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible
- Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor
- Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and/or calibrated scales
- Ability to safely operate a manual or electric pallet jack
- Ability to effectively communicate (in written and verbal form) with customers and partners
- Ability to lead and motivate others
- Advanced knowledge of market department operations
- Advanced knowledge of scheduling software systems
- Advanced knowledge of in-store ordering machine and inventory management processes
Desired Qualifications
- Prerequisite experience as a meatcutter, apprentice, and/or manager trainee
