Job Summary
Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers, learning their names, and answering the telephone promptly. Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter, review daily orders to anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish items from coolers or freezers. Handle food safely, maintain a clean and sanitary work area, run the department register, and manage trash and dishwashing duties. Price and order product while working as part of a team to ensure a pleasant environment. This role is located in a busy store kitchen environment with exposure to noise, equipment movement, and temperature extremes. Hy-Vee provides all necessary training for this hourly position requiring no formal education, though prior food service experience is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Prior food service experience is a plus
- Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
- Exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
- Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen
