Job Summary
Deliver Smith System 5 Keys training through classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, conducting initial and refresher sessions, evaluating driver readiness, and providing retraining following incidents. Train and coach Designated Driver Trainers, support new drivers through the 4–6 week onboarding program, and perform route observations to reinforce safe driving behaviors. Maintain Smith System certification compliance, integrate market risk trends into instruction, and use Power BI reporting to inform training strategies. Collaborate with Operations and Safety leadership to improve driver performance, reduce risk, and promote a strong safety culture across the market area.
Required Qualifications
- Smith System 5 Keys Driver Trainer Certification – Truck & Large Vehicle
- Refresher certification required every two years
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B)
- Working knowledge of all applicable lines of business, including: Front Load, Roll Off, Side Load, Rear Load, Container Delivery
- Demonstrated experience coaching, evaluating, and developing drivers across varying levels of experience
- Ability to effectively communicate with drivers, trainers, managers, and safety teams
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and compliance standards
Desired Qualifications
- CDL-A tractor trailer license
