Job Summary
Deliver Smith System 5 Keys training through classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, conducting initial and refresher sessions while evaluating driver readiness and performing route observations. Coach Designated Driver Trainers and support new drivers through the 4–6 week onboarding program, providing targeted retraining and performance feedback for repeat drivers following incidents. Maintain Smith System certification compliance, integrate market risk trends into instruction, and use Power BI reporting to inform training strategies. Collaborate with Operations and Safety leadership to reduce risk, promote safety culture, and ensure adherence to all federal and state policies.
Required Qualifications
- Smith System 5 Keys Driver Trainer Certification – Truck & Large Vehicle
- Refresher certification required every two years
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B)
- CDL-A tractor trailer license not required, but eligible as part of professional development
- Working knowledge of all applicable lines of business, including: Front Load, Roll Off, Side Load, Rear Load, Container Delivery
- Strong background in commercial driving, safety training, and instructional delivery
- Demonstrated experience coaching, evaluating, and developing drivers across varying levels of experience
- Ability to effectively communicate with drivers, trainers, managers, and safety teams
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and compliance standards
