Job Summary
Maritime Trainer to teach navigation and radio courses in a marine simulation environment; develop and deliver new courses aligned with industry changes; lead examinations and assessments, provide feedback, participate in research activities, and travel as required. Requires STCW II/2 Master certificate, a BSc in relevant subject, plus teaching qualification; strong English, teamwork, ability to work under pressure, and maritime education/industry experience. Based in Sharjah, UAE with in-person requirements.
Required Qualifications
- E: STCW II/2 (Class 1) Certificate of Competency (Master) Unlimited
- E: BSc or equivalent Bachelor level academic qualification in relevant subject
- P: MSc or equivalent Master level academic qualification in relevant subject
- P: Teaching / Training qualification
- E: Ability to fluently speak, write and communicate in English at the highest level of professionalism
- E: Team player, approachable, sensitive towards all cultures
- E: Work as and when required under pressure with the intention to complete task as promptly and efficiently as is possible
- E: Experience of maritime education and / or training
- P: Sailed as a Master on merchant navy deep sea vessels
- P: Experience of working in an industry supporting seafarers
- P: Experience of working on Oil, Chemical or Liquefied Gas Tankers
- P: Educational experience with leading courses/ programs, revising course content, developing new programs and courses
- P: Knowledge of student-centred teaching and learning methodologies
