Marine Technician

Job Summary
Marine Technician responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting boats and marine engines (outboards/inboards) and related electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, and vessel systems. Uses hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and budget-aware planning to ensure repairs are completed correctly and efficiently. Communicates with boat owners and team members, records work performed (parts used, time spent, additional repairs needed), sources parts, and may promote company products/services. Requires own tools, adherence to safety/environmental rules, and willingness to take training. On-site at Noank Shipyard with a fully flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Key competencies emphasize teamwork, proactive communication, adaptability, and customer service.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Technical school training preferred
- 5 years experience preferred
- ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred
- Technical outboard training/experience a plus
- Must carry own tools
- Maintain training credentials
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Basic boat handling skills preferred
- Experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred
- Ability to work on-site at Noank Shipyard
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to stand for extended periods and occasionally kneel, stoop, bend and twist in tight areas
- Comfortability with ladders and confined spaces is required
- Ability to work in the elements regularly
- Repetitive hand motions and reaching above, in-front and below shoulder level are regular movements
