Job Summary
Marine Science Program faculty member to teach fisheries science, ecology, molecular biology, and field methods; responsibilities include delivering high-quality instruction, advising students, developing curricula to meet industry standards and accreditation, capering SMCC’s 28’ research vessel, maintaining industry engagement, and contributing to program assessment; requires Master’s degree in Biology/Marine Science, 3+ years teaching (5 preferred), coastal navigation vessel knowledge, field sampling, and experience with online or hybrid delivery. Preference for PhD, Coast Guard license, and advanced field equipment proficiency; expects collaboration across disciplines and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biology, Marine Science, or related field (thesis defended)
- Minimum of 3 years (5 years preferred) of teaching experience in a related field at the post-secondary level
- Thorough understanding and experience in coastal navigation, boat handling, rules of the road, marlinspike, vessel maintenance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and statistical programs
- Experience in aquatic field sampling
- Knowledge of experimental design and research standards
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Experience with online or hybrid course delivery
- Enthusiasm for innovation in teaching and learning
