Job Summary
Perform basic design, production design, and field engineering activities for new construction and overhaul projects. Prepare clear, complete plans and detail drawings from sketches, contract changes, and bid specifications. Develop production design work packages, including workshop drawings, assembly drawings, and panel line milling information. Provide field engineering support for blue mark inspections and production questions. Specify and source piping equipment while validating system designs against safety, operability, and constructability requirements. Act as a liaison with outside engineers to ensure drawings reflect design intentions and review vendor specifications. Collaborate with the project team to develop material specifications and ensure designs meet company standards and regulatory codes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, or similar degree
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in marine industry, specifically in the design and detail production design of ship and/or boat systems
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Proficient knowledge of: Rhinoceros - Navisworks
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of and experience with marine piping systems
- Capability to read and understand technical documentation and the vessel specifications
- Knowledge of how to professionally design a ship's piping systems with consideration of electrical, HVAC, structural and outfitting interferences
- Ability to meet and professionally engage with customers, production, and sales staff in an office environment working out details, equipment selection and placement, and other information required to systems to fit the vessel
- Knowledge of 46 CFR and ABS regulations

- Rhinoceros experience is a plus
