Job Summary
Prep and apply primers and top coats to vessels, equipment, and facilities by performing surface preparation, covering areas, and sanding wood, fiberglass, and metal. Mix solvents and paint products according to formulas, operate spray equipment, and apply finishes to ships, boats, and marina buildings using brushes, rollers, and stencils. Smooth surfaces between coats, polish final finishes, and maintain clean, safe work areas while adhering to EPA and OSHA standards for waste disposal and personal protective equipment. Stock shop supplies, document daily work, and communicate with supervisors, staff, and vendors. Requires climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working outside in varying weather conditions. Minimum three years of finish painter experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- Requires climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
- Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
- Work is performed outside in the elements, on and around water
- Minimum 3 years experience as a finish painter preferred
