Job Summary
Marine Ops Technician responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of marine systems across Blue Ops’ USV operations. Perform annual and 100-hour service, tune-ups for performance and fuel efficiency, safety inspections, pre-trip checks, and support on-water operations. Work on engines (outboard and diesel), electrical systems, fuel and cooling systems, rigging, motor installations, hull repairs, and fiberglass work. Collaborate with Technical and Operations teams to maintain equipment readiness and minimize downtime, with capabilities in diagnosing, repairing, and rigging marine systems, including Bravo 3, Jet Drive, Mercury outdrive, and related installations. Emphasizes hands-on mechanical skills, adherence to safety, and ability to operate in demanding environments to ensure safe, efficient on-water performance.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic within the marine industry or related fields
- Proficiency in using hand tools, and power tools
- Experience with rigging operations and fabricating custom parts
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately for troubleshooting and repairs
- Physical capacity for heavy lifting and working in demanding environments; willingness to perform maintenance tasks in various weather conditions
- Must be able to handle small boats 25’- 30’ on and off the water; loading, towing, launching along with basic seamanship skills
- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time; ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly; PPE as required; potential climbing of ladders and exposure to noise and dust
- May be required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch during inspections, maintenance walk-throughs, or emergency response situations
- Regular exposure to facility operations including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment
- Occasional off-hours or weekend work required for emergency facility responses or projects as needed
- Requires frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation, communication, and coordination tasks
