Job Summary
Perform mechanical maintenance and training on galley, laundry, and mess-deck equipment aboard USN Surface Ships. Interface with customers, manage subcontractors, and provide work direction to others while completing comprehension of specialty trades functions. Develop technical documents including controlled work packages, procedures, and reports; schedule, report, and brief senior management. Conduct quality inspections on finished products and perform duties outside specialty to complete installation assignments. Maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance and provide own hand tools as designated.
Required Qualifications
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance
- Shipboard mechanical maintenance and repair experience
- Ability to read and interpret equipment and systems ship drawings, technical documents, and manuals
- Competence in the use of mechanical equipment and tools in corrective repair efforts in order to accomplish ship repairs
- Ability to provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
- Physical ability to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment
- Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes (no less than 30 lbs)
- Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
- Ability to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels
- Ability to ride ships at sea for extended periods
- Ability to wear a respirator

- Recent marine mechanical shipboard experience on USN ships
- Technical/professional certifications
- A current, valid DOD Confidential security clearance or higher
