Job Summary
Conduct general manual labor tasks on U.S. Navy shore facilities, waterborne vessels, surface ships, and submarines, including lifting materials, loading vehicles, surface preparation, and assisting mechanics with repairs. Perform housekeeping duties, deliver materials as required, and serve as a Fire Watch. Participate in special projects and travel to other locations when assigned. Maintain cleanliness of the worksite while adhering to safety procedures and reading material safety data sheets. No formal training is needed, though ship repair experience is helpful.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain a security badge for all military installations and civilian shipyards as needed.
- Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets (MDS).
- Able to follow safety procedures.
- Must be able to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Employee may be required to travel for work to other locations.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in ship repair is helpful.
