Job Summary
Lead the management of marine insurance policies and claims for the fleet, ensuring adequate coverage, timely renewals, and effective risk mitigation. Coordinate and handle insurance claims with underwriters, surveyors, and legal teams; conduct risk assessments; develop and implement insurance policies and procedures; maintain records of contracts and correspondence; monitor regulatory changes and market trends; collaborate with operations, legal, and finance to ensure compliance and cost-effective coverage; negotiate premiums and terms with brokers and insurers; work across departments to align with company objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in marine insurance management, preferably within the shipping or maritime industry
- Strong knowledge of marine insurance policies, claims handling, and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in relevant insurance and risk management software
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Open to those not in managerial positions to step up
