Job Summary
Marine Engineering Professional Trainer responsible for delivering and developing maritime engineering courses within a simulation environment. Teach according to STCW III/I V and related bespoke courses; design and deliver lectures and seminars; contribute to examinations and marking schemes; develop new courses aligned with industry changes; maintain up-to-date discipline knowledge; ensure alignment with timetable and academic calendar; conduct research aligned with the institution’s ambition to be research-active; provide timely feedback to students; travel as required and occasional outside-standard hours.
Required Qualifications
- E: STCW A-III/2 Chief Engineer (Class 1) Certificate of Competency (Unlimited)
- E: BSc or equivalent Bachelor level academic qualification in relevant subject
- P: MSc or equivalent Master level academic qualification in relevant subject
- P: Teaching / Training qualification
- E: Ability to fluently speak, write and communicate in English at the highest level of professionalism.
- E: Team player, approachable, sensitive towards all cultures.
- E: Work as and when required under pressure with the intention to complete task as promptly and efficiently
- E: Experience of maritime education and/ or training.
- P: Sailed as a Chief Engineer on merchant navy deep sea vessels.
- P: Experience of working in an industry supporting seafarer.
- P: Experience of working on Oil, Chemical or Liquefied Gas Tankers.
- P: Educational experience with leading courses/ programs, revising course content, developing new programs and courses.
- P: Knowledge of student-centred teaching and learning methodologies.
