Job Summary
Marine Electrician responsible for the installation, repair, and hookup of shipboard electrical services. Requires working knowledge of electrical theory and procedures, ability to troubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical systems (600 V and less) per specifications/drawings. Duties include running cables and harnessing aboard vessels, preparing work areas, drilling/grinding, inspecting cableways/electrical equipment, testing circuits for continuity/shorts/grounds, inspecting mechanical/electrical connections, locating faults, maintaining telephones and related equipment, and installing new power/lighting circuits. Must be very knowledgeable of work/safety procedures and implement Lock-out Tag-out. Equal Opportunity Employer.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of electrical theory and procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical systems and equipment (600 V and less)
- Experience with running cables, terminations/connectors, and harnessing cables aboard vessels
- Ability to prepare work areas, drill holes, and inspect cableways and electrical equipment
- Proficiency testing internal circuits for continuity, short circuits, and grounds
- Inspect mechanical and electrical connections and control wiring
- Detect and locate grounds and open circuits in distribution generators
- Install new power and lighting circuits
- Familiarity with safety procedures and Lock-out Tag-out practices
