Marine Electricians

Marine Electricians install, repair, and hook-up shipboard electrical systems and equipment (600 V and less). Must have working knowledge of electrical theory and procedures and the ability to troubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical systems and equipment according to specifications and drawings. Tasks include running cables, lines and leads, terminations/connector fabrication, cable transit packing, harnessing cables aboard vessels, preparing work areas, drilling holes, grinding metal surfaces, inspecting cableways and electrical equipment, testing internal circuits for continuity, short circuits, and grounds, inspecting mechanical and electrical connections, locating grounds and open circuits, maintaining and repairing telephones and circuits, installing new power and lighting circuits, and adhering to safety procedures and Lock-out Tag-out practices.
