Job Summary
Install, repair and hook up electrical systems for shipboard services. Lay out, pull, lift out and install cable and conduit. Prepare work area, drill holes and grind metal surfaces, and weld mounting equipment. Test electrical equipment. Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position. Requires two years of marine electrical experience (or four years electrical experience), ability to read composite blueprints and Navy standards manuals, use power and hand tools, work at heights and in confined spaces, and pass an assessment. Walk-ins accepted at the San Diego/National City, CA site with safety awareness and readiness for various shifts. Must be able to read and comprehend safety instructions and warnings, and work in a shipyard environment.
Required Qualifications
- Two years marine electrical experience and/or four years electrical experience
- Must pass assessment
- Ability to use power and hand tools and read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals
- Must have ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be available to work any shift
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions and hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings
