Job Summary
Marine Electrician responsible for installation, repair, and hook-up of electrical services on ships. Must have knowledge of electrical theory and procedures, troubleshoot shipboard electrical systems (600 V and less), and work per specifications and drawings. Duties include running cables and leads, connector fabrication, packing of cable transits, inspecting cableways and electrical equipment, testing circuits for continuity/shorts/grounds, inspecting mechanical and electrical connections, locating faults, maintaining and repairing telephones and related equipment, and installing new power and lighting circuits. Must follow safety procedures and implement Lock-out Tag-out as required. Equal Opportunity Employer.
Required Qualifications
- Experience installing, repairing, and hooking up electrical systems on ships or similar environments
- Knowledge of electrical theory and procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot shipboard electrical systems (600 V and less)
- Ability to test and measure electrical quantities and verify against specifications
- Familiarity with safety procedures and Lock-out Tag-out procedures
- Ability to read drawings/specifications and perform related installations/repairs
- Ability to fabricate terminations/connectors and harness cables
- Maintenance and repair of telecommunications equipment as applicable
