Job Summary
Install, maintain, and repair DC and AC electrical systems, including batteries, panels, inverters, and generators, while troubleshooting faults using diagrams and diagnostic tools. Perform installations of navigation, communication, and charging systems per ABYC standards, inspect wiring for compliance, and collaborate on vessel projects and retrofits. Provide on-the-job training to apprentices and maintain accurate work records. Start date is ASAP in Costa Mesa, Orange County. Applicants must have 3–5 years of marine electrical experience and proficiency with multimeters. ABYC certification is preferred. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a marine electrician or equivalent trade experience
- Comprehensive understanding of 12V, 24V, and 48V DC and 120/240V AC marine systems
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Proficiency with multimeters, clamp meters, and other electrical diagnostic tools
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Valid driver's license and ability to work in shipyard or dockside environments
Desired Qualifications
- ABYC certification or equivalent credentials
- Experience with Kohler marine generators and related control systems
- Working knowledge of Victron Energy products (chargers, inverters, monitoring systems)
- Ability to train apprentices and professionally represent Boatswain’s Locker with customers
