Job Summary
Perform electrical maintenance and training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance, and repair of specific items of engineering systems/equipment onboard USN Surface Ships. Master production processes, interface with customers, and manage subcontractors while providing direction to others. Complete comprehension of specialty trades functions, develop technical documents including controlled work packages and test reports, and schedule briefings for senior management. Perform quality inspections and duties outside specialty to complete installation assignments.
Required Qualifications
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience
- Must have shipboard electrical maintenance and repair experience
- Must be able to read and interpret equipment and system ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals
- Must be competent in the use of electrical equipment and tools in corrective repair efforts to accomplish ship repairs
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance
- Must be physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs
- Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
- Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels
- May ride ships at sea for extended periods
- May require wearing a respirator
- Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
Desired Qualifications
- Recent electrical experience onboard USN ships
- Prefer technical/professional certifications
- A current, valid DOD Confidential security clearance or higher
