Job Summary

Conduct quality maintenance and diagnostics on marine diesel engines and generators, including repowering and rebuilding powerplants. Perform installation, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, and testing of propulsion systems and electronic equipment in accordance with ABYC standards. Utilize OEM technical information and computer-based diagnostics to execute repairs on diverse engines such as Volvo, Yanmar, Westerbeke, Cummins, and Cat. Operate vessels safely in SWFL waterways to move customer vessels and perform systems checks. Perform physical tasks including lifting 59-pound batteries, climbing ladders and scaffolds, and working at heights above 12 feet. Work full-time Monday through Friday with availability for overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years job related experience in the marine repair industry
  • Factory/technical training with certifications in marine repair
  • Experience working with Volvo, Yanmar, Westerbeke, Cummins, Cat, and/or other engines
  • Experience with IPS drives
  • Knowledge of all aspects of today's current marine diesel power plants and auxiliary systems
  • Familiarity with maintenance and repair of running gear, thru hulls and general vessel maintenance
  • Ability to safely operate various sizes and styles of vessels
  • Familiarity with safe navigation of SWFL waterways
  • Ability to move customer vessels
  • Ability to perform systems checks as needed
  • Overall knowledge of mechanics for various types of vessels
  • Self-starter with troubleshooting skills
  • Professional appearance
  • Ability to follow directions in a professional manner
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Clean driving record (infractions worse than minor traffic violations)
  • Ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel
  • Ability to perform prolonged standing
  • Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis
  • Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis
  • Ability to lift/push/pull a battery weighing 59 pounds without assistance on a regular basis
  • Ability to climb in a safe manner (including stairs, scaffolding, ladders and ramps)
  • Ability to work at heights above 12 feet
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and on top of vessels while hauled out
  • Ability to safely and appropriately use required tools and equipment
  • Good balance while working on uneven surfaces and maneuvering obstacles
  • Sufficient handgrip and coordination to carry and operate tools and equipment
  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (closed toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety lines, floatation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
  • Ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions including heat, humidity and sun
  • Ability to work in an environment where you are occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Ability to enter small spaces, openings and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to respond to verbal and audible sounds/commands
  • Adequate visual skills
  • Ability to perceive attributes of an object/materials such as size, shape, temperature and texture
  • Ability to observe all safety signs, notices and understand safety procedures
