Job Summary
Assist the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor in preparing surfaces and applying coatings to marine vessels, tanks, piping, and structures per customer specifications. Operate abrasive blasting and painting equipment while mixing, thinning, and maintaining supplies. Construct protective enclosures to prevent overspray and load/unload equipment and materials. Perform work in confined spaces, through hatches, and on erected scaffolding while adhering to strict safety protocols and PPE requirements. Maintain a clean jobsite and report any unsafe conditions immediately. Requires 2+ years of marine coatings experience, ability to lift 100 lbs, and willingness to travel to job sites.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to follow specific directions
- Must perform a variety of duties, which may often change
- Must have experience working with various blasting equipment, such as sandblasters, UHP water blasters, pots, pumps, and hoppers, various hand tools and power tools
- Must be willing to learn all aspects of assigned tasks
- Must be proficient in and committed to all safety aspects of assigned tasks, including the proper usage of PPE, such as harnesses, hard hats, eye protection, gloves, and respiratory protection
- Must be able to safely lift work materials, up to 100 lbs
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
- Must be able to safely maneuver into and work in confined spaces, through hatches and erected scaffolding, into ship hulls and interior tanks
- 2+ years of experience in marine coatings applications
- Must be willing to travel to job sites as current jobs require
