Job Summary
Maintain marina and boat fleet services including motors, steering, electrical, and dock infrastructure. Change engine oil, fuel filters, and spark plugs; inspect propellers, lower units, and hubs for corrosion. Examine battery connections, test batteries, and troubleshoot navigation, VHF, and lighting systems. Inspect and repair gel coat, pump out boats, and sanitize waste tanks. Secure boats to docks, manage fueling systems, and inspect Coast Guard safety equipment. Perform daily motor flushing and maintain grounds keeping equipment. Work May through October at Seven Bays Marina and November through April at Keller Ferry Marina. Provide excellent customer service to guests while complying with all Coast Guard regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Partial High School education
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent
- Ability to swim
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Own tools necessary to carry out tasks
- Adequate computer skills to create spreadsheets, access email, and use engine diagnostic software
- Good organization
- Willingness to travel to other units if need be
- Willingness to work with the US Coast Guard during biannual haul-out inspection
- Compliance with all Coast Guard regulations and inspector recommendations
- Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks
- Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently
- Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 25 lbs regularly, 30-35 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to stand for the entire work day
- Ability to climb steps regularly
- Ability to work in wet and slippery conditions
- Ability to work in an outdoor, hot, and damp environment
- Ability to frequently immerse hands in water
- Ability to withstand temperature extremes in outdoor environments and inclement weather
- Ability to read and write work-related documents in English
- Ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers in English
- Ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English
- Physical presence at the job site
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of engine cooling systems and ability to replace impellers or water pump assemblies
- Knowledge of marine water heater and air conditioning systems
- Knowledge of marine propane gas systems
- Knowledge of boat haul-outs and gear to inspect during this time
- Knowledge of appropriate boat bottom paints and how to properly prepare and apply
- Knowledge of proper boat fueling and fuel spill laws/procedures
- Familiarity with dock pump out systems and lift stations
- Familiarity with dockside fueling systems and tank monitors
- Knowledge of basic troubleshooting for dockside fueling systems
- Knowledge of how to properly secure boats to the dock
- Knowledge of how to properly sanitize each tank
- Knowledge of marine toilets and how to repair
- Strong customer service abilities
- Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management
- Ability to assist customers and coworkers
