Job Summary
Locate, repair and maintain water, heating and sewage systems in all District facilities. Complete all preventative maintenance work in a timely manner. Inspect all contracted repair or new installation. Estimate cost of plumbing repair projects in terms of labor, material and overhead. Coordinate with the Plant Manager to determine if repair jobs should be contracted. Extensive travel to villages required. Physical requirements include lifting up to 70-100 pounds and capability to work in outdoor conditions with exposure to chemicals and noise. Education and experience requirements include high school diploma or GED, two years of technical plumbing training, four to five years related experience, valid Alaska driver’s license, and State of Alaska Journeyman’s Plumber License with current Alaska fitness card. Preferred: Inupiaq language/cultural experience. Skills emphasize reading and interpreting procedures, writing routine reports, and mathematical ability for measurements and cost estimation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of technical training in plumbing systems or university program certificate
- Four to five years related experience and/or training
- Valid Alaska driver’s license
- State of Alaska Journeyman’s Plumber License and current Alaska fitness card
