Job Summary
Manufacturing Test Development Engineer I responsible for designing, implementing, validating, and maintaining electrical and mechanical test solutions used in Axcelis manufacturing operations. You’ll collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to support new product introduction, optimize test coverage, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency, influencing product reliability, cycle time, and throughput. The role involves building and validating test systems, debugging test equipment and interfaces, analyzing test data to identify root causes, creating thorough test documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Candidate will gain hands-on experience across electronics, mechanical design, automation, instrumentation, data analysis, and troubleshooting of complex test systems; CAD modeling, PCB tools, and data analysis skills are highly relevant to day-to-day tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field
- 0–2 years of engineering experience (co-op or internship welcome)
- Familiarity with CAD modeling software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD
- Understanding of electrical schematics and PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, or similar)
- Experience using basic measurement tools and lab equipment, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers
- Familiarity with DAQ systems such as National instruments cDAQ, PXI and the associated software like NI LabView and NI TestStand
- Ability to use fabrication tools (hand tools, calipers, 3D printing, basic machining)
- Competency with data analysis tools such as Excel, Python, MATLAB
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Gantt charts, Microsoft Project, or Planner
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively on cross-functional engineering teams
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
