Job Summary
Operate surface, cylindrical, and centerless grinding machines to process sapphire components while adhering to tight tolerances. Interpret travelers, blueprints, and specifications to cut, chamfer, smooth, polish, and size parts using prescribed speeds and feeds. Perform in-process inspections via visual and dimensional checks for parallelism, angle, concentricity, and finish, documenting data and transporting parts as instructed. Maintain equipment through daily upkeep, adjustments, and cleaning. This second-shift role requires hands-on machining experience and proficiency in shop mathematics.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of hands-on machining experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- This position is scheduled for second shift
- Proficient in shop mathematics, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing across all units of measure, utilizing whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages
- Ability to read and interpret both basic and advanced measuring equipment like a metal rule
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, Safety Data Sheets, and Work Instructions
- Familiarity with basic PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or specific software utilized by individual departments
