Manufacturing Technician

Job Summary
Operate and maintain the metallographic laboratory and manufacturing processes for implantable electronic medical devices; perform metallographic sample preparation and analysis (cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing), and operate sandblasting equipment, polishing machines, and manual grinders. Collect data for DOE and range-finding experiments under engineer supervision, report findings, and support process optimization. Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety, and GMP; maintain documentation of production activities and process parameters; collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing and laboratory workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Technical degree or certification in materials science, mechanical technology, electronics, or related fields
- Specialized training in metallography, sample preparation, or laboratory techniques preferred
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience in metallographic sample preparation (cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing)
- Experience operating sandblasting equipment, polishing machines, and manual grinders
- Familiarity with manual and semi-automatic assembly tasks in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
- Basic understanding of welding, soldering, and surface treatment processes
- Ability to follow detailed procedures for cleaning, molding, and sample preparation
- Strong attention to detail in preparing samples for microscopic or cross-sectional analysis
- Knowledge of safety protocols, laboratory standards, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers and report operational findings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and willingness to learn relevant manufacturing systems
- Reliability, responsibility, and ability to work independently on routine operational tasks
