Manufacturing Technician (CNC Machining & Fabrication)

Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC machining equipment to produce precision parts, program toolpaths, and select speeds and feeds. Weld and fabricate structures using TIG/MIG techniques, build wire harnesses, and perform precision soldering to space workmanship standards. Read engineering drawings and GD&T specifications, operate manual machine tools, and conduct inspections with precision measurement tools. Support mechanical assembly, integration, and test hardware builds while maintaining shop safety and organization. Work closely with engineers to improve manufacturability. Extended hours and weekend work may be required. This role requires a physical presence at the Ottawa facility.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Trade certificate or college diploma in machining, welding, manufacturing, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining and/or welding and fabrication
- Experience with soldering and/or wire harness and cable assembly
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and wiring diagrams
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)

- Certified or highly proficient in TIG welding, especially aluminum and stainless
- NASA-STD-8739.3 (or IPC J-STD-001 Space Addendum) soldering certification, or high-reliability space soldering experience
- Wire harness and cable assembly experience to NASA-STD-8739.4 (crimping, interconnecting cables, harnesses, and wiring) or similar space workmanship standards
- Experience machining aerospace or precision materials (aluminum, titanium, stainless)
- Familiarity with fixtures, jigs, and tooling design
- Experience in a machine shop, fabrication shop, or hardware startup environment
- Comfortable working across multiple skills and picking up new ones as the shop grows
