Job Summary
Perform thin film coating operations including set-up, calibration, chamber foiling, and analysis. Collect and evaluate operating data to adjust instruments, while handling fragile composite materials and working in small, enclosed, or elevated spaces. Follow critical work instructions for assigned platforms and assist engineers in testing, process development, and documentation. Prepare calibration run-sheets, coat runs, and revise tooling factors based on analyzed results. Adhere to all PPE and safety guidelines while communicating over ambient noise. Work flexible shifts including weekends, with a 5/40 schedule. Report to the Production Manager at Sonoma Photonics, Inc. in Santa Rosa, CA.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 4 years' related manufacturing experience
- Experience in Thin Film Coating, deposition chambers, or related environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DOD security clearance
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret numerical data for reporting purposes
- Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 25 lbs
- Experience with a variety of small hand tools, calibration tools, and measurement tools
- 6 years' experience
- Experience in Thin Film Coating or related environment
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DOD security clearance
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret numerical data for reporting purposes
- Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 25 lbs
- Experience with a variety of small hand tools, calibration tools, and measurement tools
- Ability to work flexible, changing shifts
- Ability to work in small, enclosed spaces, awkward, and elevated spaces
- Ability to bend, twist, kneel, crawl, ascend/descend ladders, and/or work overhead
- Ability to follow critical work instructions for assigned platform (past and present) and related analytical equipment
- Ability to work and communicate over ambient noise
- U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DOD security clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable period of time
Desired Qualifications
- 4 years' experience in Thin Film Coating manufacturing environment
- Completed college-level classes in STEM related courses math and science
- Proficient with computer programs to collect and evaluate operating data (i.e. Spectral Eval, TF Calc, LabView and Microsoft Office Suite)
- Active US Government Secret clearance
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and methods
- Great Attention to detail
- Good math and written/verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated Mechanical Ability
- Off shift is preferred
